Doutreligne Seven : affordable design- and quality piano

At the Design Biennale Interieur in Coutrai, Pianos Maene introduced its newest creation: the Doutreligne 7, a design piano which represents a contemporary and minimalist design combined with the affordable quality of the own brand Doutreligne. Professional pianists as well as design lovers will definitely be interested in this exceptional piano.

For several years now, Pianos Maene flirted with the idea to produce a design piano. We wanted to reduce much of the classical design of a lot of pianos, which this day doesn’t fit a modern interior. In cooperation with the Antwerp design company GBO design, we chose a stark and minimalist model, where unnecessary lines and decorations would be omitted. However, the intention was not to produce an extravagant show-piece, a ‘limited edition’ which no one could afford. The result is the Doutreligne 7 (Seven), a contemporary but still timeless piano which can appeal to the general public. The Doutreligne 7 will be available at the price of grand pianos with a similar length (1m85) of well known brands like Yamaha and Kawai.

Not just the price and the design played an important part, Pianos Maene also wanted to preserve the quality of the piano. The Doutreligne 7 offers the musicality and European quality of the existing line of Doutreligne pianos; this piano is the result of over 70 years of craftsmanship and the use of only the best materials. For example, Pianos Maene chose to provide the design piano with a German soundboard and German hammerheads, which resulted in a European quality sound.

The design of the Doutreligne 7 was established in cooperation with GBO design. Under the approving eye of Dominique Maene, the GBO team chose to work with minimalist and reduced lines: the shape of the legs reminds one of the '7' in 'Doutreligne 7' and the wheels have been concealed into the legs. In addition, the lyre was strongly simplified and the lid fits perfectly into the sound box.

The Black Label 7 is mostly finished in black; the Color Label 7 in white, combined with bright color contrasts: Rose, Framboise, Grape, Azur, Lime, Grass and Chocolate.
