Responsive Hammer Compact II keyboard
The ES-520 features the Responsive Hammer Compact II keyboard with 88 graded, weighted keys. Thanks to precise 3-sensor technology, pianists can expect a very natural playing feel. Designed according to the principles of the Responsive Hammer III keyboard, it offers a smooth touch in a lighter, more compact format—ideal for entry-level instruments like the ES-520.
Shigeru Kawai samples & Progressive Harmonic Imaging (PHI)
The ES-520 includes beautiful, updated samples of the world-renowned Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand, played in major halls worldwide and often chosen by professional pianists. With Kawai’s Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound technology, the tones of all 88 keys are faithfully and precisely reproduced. By sampling each key individually, the character of the acoustic grand piano is remarkably preserved.
Thanks to Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS), headphone listening is more realistic and spacious.
Wide selection of sounds and accompaniment styles
Beyond realistic acoustic piano tones, the ES-520 offers a broad palette of 34 sounds in total—such as E-piano, Hammond or church organ, strings, choir—enabling varied playing across many genres. The Rhythm section also provides 100 accompaniment styles (pop, rock, jazz, funk, latin, …) to make your playing even more lively.
Bluetooth MIDI and audio connectivity
The ES-520 includes integrated Bluetooth MIDI and audio technologies that allow the instrument to communicate wirelessly with supported smart devices. By pairing it with a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, you can use a wide range of interactive apps or stream audio from, e.g., YouTube or Spotify. You can also connect to Kawai’s PianoRemote app to adjust settings and sounds via an intuitive interface. The ES-520 is also compatible with the PiaBookPlayer app, letting you view scores and listen to numerous classical pieces through the instrument’s speakers.
Accessories
The ES-520 can optionally be configured as a full-fledged digital piano with the HM-5 stand and the F-302 triple pedal.
