Why choose a Doutreligne piano?
If you're looking for a reliable acoustic piano with a warm, European tone, you’ll quickly come across Doutreligne. This in-house brand of Piano’s Maene offers a unique combination of craftsmanship, smart production, and honest pricing. Each model is designed in the Chris Maene Atelier, where over 85 years of expertise and passion for piano building come together.
The production of Doutreligne pianos follows a deliberate two-step process: the structural assembly takes place in Asia, just like with brands such as Yamaha or Kawai. But unlike many other brands, the instruments are delivered unfinished to Piano’s Maene. There, they are fully regulated, optimized, and inspected by hand by a team of highly trained piano technicians. This ensures that each piano reaches the showroom at the highest technical and musical level.
Only high-quality materials are selected for the components: a Strunz soundboard (Germany), Abel hammers (Germany), and a solid cabinet construction deliver a rich, warm tone with a distinctly European character. By eliminating middlemen, the price remains competitive without compromising on quality.
From entry-level model to premium grand piano
Doutreligne offers a suitable instrument for every type of pianist. Whether you're looking for an affordable beginner’s piano for home use or a durable upright piano for a music academy, Doutreligne’s standard line offers excellent mid-range instruments. These pianos are often chosen by both beginner and advanced players seeking a reliable acoustic piano with strong musical potential.
For those looking to take it a step further, there is the Doutreligne Master line. These pianos are equipped with a German Kluge keyboard and a Renner action – the same components found in prestigious brands like Steinway & Sons, Schimmel, and Bechstein. This makes the Doutreligne Master a particularly strong instrument in its price category, offering a responsive touch and a rich, well-balanced tone. Ideal for the demanding pianist who wants top quality without spending a fortune.
The name Doutreligne: a tribute to family tradition
The name Doutreligne refers to Zulma Doutreloigne, co-founder of the family business Piano’s Maene in 1938, together with her husband Albert Maene. In the early 2000s, the idea was born to create a dedicated line of pianos — not only as a tribute to the family’s legacy, but also as a way to introduce a high-quality, affordable range of pianos to the market. It was Chris Maene, second generation and renowned piano builder, who designed the first models and immortalized his mother’s name in this beloved line.
Today, twenty years later, Doutreligne has become a well-established name in the piano world. With thousands of satisfied customers both in Belgium and abroad, the brand is now a familiar presence in music schools, living rooms, and concert halls alike.
