Chamber music with Duo Vermeulen - Douchy

We conclude our concert season with chamber music of the highest level!

Duo Vermeulen – Douchy presents a diverse programme.

 

François-Emmanuel is a versatile musician, active on baroque and modern cello, piano, viola da gamba and harpsichord. He studied with Martijn Vink and Jan Vermeulen at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, and with Andrzej Bauer in Warsaw. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in baroque cello with Kristin von der Goltz and Daniel Rosin in Frankfurt, and viola da gamba with Friederike Heumann in Würzburg. He focuses on chamber music and solo repertoire on both modern and historical instruments. He performs with ensembles such as the OLIV Cello Quartet, I Capricorni, Camerata du Luxembourg, Komorebi Consort and the Douchy-Vermeulen Duo. In addition, he regularly collaborates with groups such as the Kuijken Quartet, La Petite Bande and the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra. He has taken masterclasses with musicians including Pieter Wispelwey, Roel Dieltiens, Viola de Hoog and Julien Libeer.

 

Roeland won prizes at the Cantabile piano competition at a young age. Later followed, among others, the first prize at the Stéphane De Jonghe Competition (2018), third prizes at the EPTA Piano Competition and the Concours Andrée Charlier, and the PlayRight+ Prize (2021). In 2025, he was selected for the Queen Elisabeth Competition. As a soloist, he has performed in venues such as BOZAR, Flagey, De Singel and AMUZ. He forms a regular duo with cellist François-Emmanuel Douchy, with whom he has collaborated since their time studying at the arts secondary school. He also performs regularly with violinist Lei Wang, whose class he accompanies at LUCA School of Arts.
