On Sunday 15 November, soprano Katharine Dain, tenor Mitch Raemaekers and pianist Reinild Mees will perform the most beautiful songs by Joseph Marx and present their double CD. They will also provide spoken commentary during the event.

The oeuvre of Joseph Marx (1882–1964) unquestionably deserves a place alongside the works of composers such as Hugo Wolf, Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss. His magnificent songs, written in a late‑Romantic style connected to Jugendstil, are rarely heard today. Yet they contain many small masterpieces, and it is high time this repertoire received greater recognition. From 2026 onwards, all 151 songs by the Austrian composer Joseph Marx will therefore be recorded on three double CDs by the 20th‑Century Song Foundation, in collaboration with the COBRA Records label and Piano’s MAENE. This foundation plays an international pioneering role in the revival of songs from the previous century, particularly from the Interwar period. Their earlier recordings of the Complete Songs of Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Edward Elgar, Karol Szymanowski, Franz Schreker and Ottorino Respighi received excellent reviews and several awards.
