Singer Tutu Puoane and pianist Ewout Pierreux met during a rehearsal in 2003 in Leuven and have been inseparable ever since. As musical and life partners, they know each other inside out.

From the cross‑pollination of Puoane’s South African roots and Pierreux’s piano playing, grounded in classical music and jazz, a unique blend emerged—combining African, European and American musical traditions, infused with soul and jazz, their two great shared passions.

They have now been working together for more than 20 years on various projects and have released several albums in different line‑ups. For Tutu’s recent double‑album project Wrapped In Rhythm (see video below), they co‑wrote many new songs based on the poetry of Lebogang Mashile, a fellow South African and contemporary of Tutu. As a duo, they are just the two of them, with all the freedom and flexibility that entails, embarking on a journey through their extensive repertoire of jazz standards, a few covers and many original songs. A trip that is different every time, yet always touched by a hint of magic that makes each concert a unique experience.
